The Hostess Look

Awhile back I said I was looking for clothes that seemed "hostess-ish", but I didn't really know how to explain it. Well, I think these looks from the Ports 1961 Sping 09 show emulate what I was thinking: long, flowy, comfortable, easy, but very put together. The pictures say more than I can:

Decorative Lines

Damn I'm slacking.


That being said, I cannot stop thinking about the Junya Watanabe spring 09 show. Really, anything with Dutch wax print fabric is a go for me (I do especially like the second outfit here and the sandals), but the make-up on the models! The lines on their face and running up and down their bodies. So beautiful, I might have to get myself some permanent line decorations:

In other news, my rope necklaces are done and delivered. I will post the link when they go up on the website. AND I had an amazing massage today, got my pelvis joints realigned (which apparently had been out of whack since I gave birth over 15 months ago), and somehow in the process I lost my belly pooch! Super excited and going to go jean shopping soon.

Ahhh, I'm Back!

Soooo, for the last 2 weeks my husband was out of town touring in Germany. I was sole baby care provider, while hosting some out of town in-laws and working on making five of these:

I've been a busy, busy gal. But now I'll have some more time for posting, and possibly even having a moment or 2 to myself!

Just wanted to say:

I love "The Best of Soul Train". It's like a little nugget of goodness on a Sunday afternoon.

Today's episode looks to be from the early 70's (I just looked it up-episode #102 from the 73-74 season featuring The Staple Singers and Bunny Sigler).

A lot of the women seem to be wearing capri length pants with tights underneath and platform sandals. One ingenious young woman is dancing around with a long feather in her hand.

There seems to be a lot of scarfs tied around the neck and crop tops for the men and women.

So much inspiration!

My New Wedding Ring

About two years ago when my husband and I were preparing for our wedding, we got a pair of simple gold bands, mainly because I wasn't sure what else to get. I knew I didn't want anything with a diamond, but I was lost in this area between "tradition" and what I actually wanted.

So recently we both traded in the gold bands for rings that were more individually "us". My husband bought a solid jade band, and I got this sculptural sterling silver number:


As I get older, I find myself doing things that make me feel more "me". I like that.
